Betty Jean Stevenson, of Lewiston passed away at the age of 90 on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015. The family wishes to thank Life Care Center for their kindness during her final year.
Born Betty Jean Bars on July 29, 1925, in Portland, Ore., she moved to Clarkston as an infant. She and her brother, Bob Bars, were later adopted by Arch and Mable Watkins of Asotin. She graduated from Asotin High School in 1945. Betty was in nurses' training at Lewis-Clark Normal School when she met and married Lawrence R. Stevenson on Dec. 22, 1945. They were married 42 years at the time of his death in 1987.
Betty is survived by her three daughters: Carol (Ron) Carpenter of Olympia; Gloria (Tom) Condon of Bend, Ore., and Linda (Darrell) Roberts of Lewiston. She has eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was an avid reader. She enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping and hunting with her family. Betty learned to bowl in her senior years and was able to outscore all her kids and grandkids.
Betty professed her faith and was baptized at Lewiston Church of the Nazarene on Nov. 20, 1988.
Malcom's Brower-Wann is in charge of a graveside service Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens.
