Avis Sabrina Kinzer, 58, a beautiful person inside and out and an outstanding nurse, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at her home in Genesee.
She was born in Douglas, Ga., to James Esmond Gay and Louise Overman Gay, on Sept. 23, 1955. She traveled the world with her dad, who made his career in the military. Although she was to be the valedictorian of her class, she took the GED test and joined the Army at 18. When she got out, she used the GI Bill to get a degree in nuclear health physics and went to work at Hanford and had a daughter, Stacie.
Always looking for a new challenge, she met and married Tom Kinzer on May 19, 1990, and moved to Lewiston. A son, Cody, was added to the family. Sabrina went back to school again and got her RN in nursing and went to work for Tri-State Medical Center, working in Med-Surg and later in dialysis. Her and Tom's dream of building and moving into a new house on the farm came true the day before Christmas 1994. She loved nursing and her patients loved her, as she always got cards and telephone calls long after they left the hospital.
She is survived by her husband and son Cody at the family home; her daughter, Stacie (Matt) of East Richland, Wash.; her mother, Louise Arnold of Yakima; her sister, Diane of Houston; brother Richard of Kershaw, S.C.; mother-in-law Madlynn of Genesee; brothers-in-law Dean (Barb) of Pullman and Kieth (Beverly) of Genesee; sister-in-law Kathy of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.
She wished to be cremated and not have any services, and that wish will be followed. Please keep her in your prayers, as she was really a caring and wonderful person.
