Alice Elizabeth (Tucker) Farthing, 96, a longtime resident of Lewiston, died Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Life Care Center in Lewiston.

Born June 10, 1923, in Newport, Idaho, Alice graduated from Clarkston High School, and graduated from Lewiston Normal School in 1944 with a teaching certificate.

Alice wore many hats over her lifetime. She taught third grade, was a telephone operator, cook at Walks, the Lewiston Country Club, the Elks and Spencers. Alice then started her own business called “Ali’s Pilot Car Service” and guided big rigs all over the Northwest.

Alice married Glenn Farthing in 1946. They divorced in 1961. Later, she met the love of her life and soul mate, Donald J. Appleford. They were inseparable until his passing in 2007.

Alice loved camping, boating, traveling, ceramics, water aerobics, having cocktails on her patio and spending quality time with her “Village” of friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her soul mate, Donald J. Appleford; her daughter, Paula Elizabeth Farthing; and her brothers, Jerry L. Tucker, Allie (Buck) Tucker, Bert Tucker and Ernest Tucker.

She is survived by daughters Glenna Marshall of Portland, Ore., and Shelley Stiles of Lewiston; son Douglas (Chris) Farthing of Hayden, Idaho; granddaughter Heather Paul Dyer (Ken) of Lewiston; and grandson Darrin Neiman (Cassie) of Moscow. She is also survived by her extended family, Marjean Riggers (daughter #4/niece), Alice Marie Mills (daughter #5), Bob Paul, Jim Marshall, Dan Mills, Rick Smith and Johnny C. Stiles.

A special “thank you” to Dr. Daniel McIntosh and his staff and Life Care Center for the excellent care given to our Mom. Much love to her special “Village” who brought much joy to her life.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at The Barn at Guardian Angel Homes, 2421 Vineyard Ave., in Lewiston.
