Albert Rawley Barros, 71, passed from this life to the next on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, at his home in Lapwai.
Albert was born on June 16, 1952, to Manuel Barros and Zola Kipp Barros. He was a member of the Nez Perce Tribe and was raised in Lapwai by his grandparents Earl and Blanche Kipp Gould. He graduated from Lapwai High School in 1970. Following graduation, he attended the University of Idaho and then graduated from Lewis-Clark State College in 1979.
Albert enjoyed a very prestigious career working for the federal government in Lapwai, Washington, D.C. and Anchorage, Alaska. Albert recently retired from serving on the Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy K. Barros of Lapwai; brothers Robert Kipp of Lapwai, Adam Villavicencio (Paige) of Lewiston; and sisters Zandra Barros-Ray (Drew) of Puyallup, Wash., Sheryl Jaquez of Tacoma, Doris Villavicencio of Lapwai, and Blanchette V-Morrison (Raleigh) of Portland, Ore.; daughter Danyel Hunter-Ward (and grandson Finn) of Pinehurst, Idaho; and aunt Betty Gould of Wapato, Wash.; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
A celebration of Albert’s life was held Sept. 25, in Lapwai. The family would like to thank all who attended and joined in celebrating his life and many accomplishments. Albert was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed.
